Morista

Mor oli vähän heräteostos. Toki, pidän kaiken aikaa silmät auki mielenkiintoisten yhdistelmien ja urosten varalta, mutta Morin pentue oli lähes syntymässä, kun sen bongasin ja pistin viestiä kasvattajalle.

Mor oli tarkoitus laittaa sijoitukseen. Minulla oli reilu puolitoista vuotias kisakoira jo kasvamassa, en tarvitse toista mihinkään vielä pitkään aikaan. Mutta koska tykkään ihan hurjasti vanhemmasta nartustani, ja kasvattajan kertoman perusteella odotin Morin olevan samanlainen, en ihan liian vakavissani sijoituskotia sille etsinyt. Joten se sitten vähän niinku jäi. Hupsista.

Pentuna Mor oli tulisieluinen, järkähtämätön, yhteistyökykyinen ja -haluinen, fiksu ja reipas pentu. Se oli ihan mielettömän kiva, ja olin niin iloinen kun minulla oli pitkästä aikaa koira, joka osasi käyttää aivoja (kaksi aiempaa ovat olleet varsin idiootteja junnuina). Morin kanssa tehtiin paljon toko- ja jälkipohjia, sen oli tarkoitus jatkaa vanhemman nartun jalanjälkiä näiden kahden lajin osalta.

Sitten siitä tuli teini. Ja siitä tuli ihan kamala.

Minun reipas, iloinen ja itsevarma pentu muuttui ahdistuneeksi, pehmeäksi ja yhteistyökyvyttömäksi teiniksi. Se paineistui välittömästi, jos edes melkein aisti etten ole parhaassa mahdollisessa mielentilassa, ja kieltäytyi tekemästä töitä. Jäljellä se löi ihan täysin hanskat tiskiin, tokossa sitä ahdisti noin kaikki.

Nostin kädet pystyyn ja totesin, että huono koira, pilalla on, olkoot sitten seurakoira saatana. Mietin jopa vakavissani sen antamista pois, ehkä agilityyn, ehkä kotikoiraksi. Oikeisiin töihin siitä ei ole, sen pää ei kestä, eikä se nauti yhdessä tekemisestä.

Mutta koska kaikesta huolimatta Mor oli äärimmäisen mukava, helppo, iloinen, ystävällinen, ja kaikin puolin todella kiva koira, en etsinyt myöskään uutta kotia sille liian vakavissani. Se oli minun demokoira ollessani koirakoululla töissä. Se avusti mm remmirähjien kanssa, koska sitä ei liikauttanut karvan vertaa, vaikka parin metrin päässä joku louskutti kuola roiskuen. Se vain piti huomionsa minussa, se luotti täysin siihen, että pidän sen turvassa.

Kun Mor oli vähän päälle kaksi ja puoli vuotta, me muutimme Seinäjoelle ja aloitettiin aktiivitreenaaminen yli vuoden tauon jälkeen. Kouvolassa olimme tehneet pelastusta, ja huomasin Morin pitävän pelastushausta hurjasti, joten se oli luonnollisesti jatkossa meidän ohjelmistossa. Otin sitä myös mukaan tokoon, josko saisin sille kuitenkin sen alo1-tuloksen.

Nyt kun muutosta on kulunut reilu puoli vuotta (kevät 2021), Mor on HUIKEA! Se on kasvanut aivan mielettömästi vuoden mittaan. Poissa on ahdistunut, yhteistyökyvytön teini, ja sen sijaan minulla on käsissä taas tulisieluinen räyhäroope, joka huutaa minulle, jos yritän korjata sitä ja se tekee omasta mielestään oikein. Se paineistuu yhä, jos opetellaan jotain uutta ja se ei ole varma mitä haluan siltä, mutta se ei enää kieltäydy tekemästä, ja palautuu paineesta todella nopeasti jahka sen pääsee palkkaamaan.

Sen mielestä toko on taas kivaa, jälkeä se ajaa nelivedolla rapa roiskuen. Haku on yhä lempihommaa; se on itsenäinen puurtaja, joka jaksaa painaa pitkään, eikä kysele ohjeita turhanpäiden. Se on tehnyt hakua niin metsässä kuin rakennuksilla, pimeässä ja valossa. Mikään alusta ei epäilytä sitä, mikään ääni ei liikuta sitä, ja se on äärimmäisen varma ja ketterä liikkuja. Kotona se on rento, pääosin nukkuu, tai leikkii itsekseen. Se on superahne ja valitsee mieluummin hyvän ruoan palkaksi kuin lelun, mutta nauttii kuitenkin suunnattomasti vetoleikeistä, ja repii lelua koko kroppaa käyttäen, eikä korjaile puruotetta.

Ferrari se ei kuitenkaan ole, vaan tekee rauhallisemmalla tahdilla kaiken. Toisinaan sillä on myös huonoja päiviä, ja silloin sen asenne tokossa hieman heittelee. Samalla se kuitenkin mölisee häkissä, jos teen toisen koirani kanssa töitä eikä se pääse hommiin nyyh angst.

Mor kulkee erittäin hyvin autossa, eikä se stressaa uusissa paikoissa. Se on aina utelias ja kiinnostunut kaikesta, mutta sillä ei heitä kippo nurin. Sen voi ottaa kaikkialle mukaan, eikä se järjestä kohtausta tai showta. Ihmisiä se rakastaa, mutta on huomattavasti kohteliaampi kuin muut koirani. Se myös tulee toimeen ihan kaikkien koirien kanssa, jotka sen eteen tähän mennessä on viskattu.

Mor on äärimmäisen vaivaton, itsenäinen ja helppo tapaus, mutta se ei ihan jokaisen käteen välttämättä sovi. Se vaatii kuitenkin tietynlaista auktoriteettiä, muttei runsaissa määrin. Se on myös ns yhden ihmisen koira. Siinä missä voin laittaa vanhemmat koirani hoitoon ja ne on yolo, ihan sama tuletko koskaan takaisin, Mor ravaa rinkiä ja piippaa ovien ja ikkunoiden takana, koska tulen sitä hakemaan. Tosin mitä useammin se on hoidossa, sen helpompaa sen on myös olla siellä ilman minua.

Vaikean nuoruuden jälkeen siitä on siis kasvanut hieno harrastuskoira, jonka vakautta ja varmuutta toivoisin rodussa esiintyvän enemmän. Ainut huono puoli on yhä olemassa oleva pehmeys, mutta tästä syystä sille on valittu itseään selvästi kovempi uros. Pennuista en siis oleta lapsitähtiä, vaan uskoisin niiden kypsyvän hitaasti ja tarvitsevan aikaa ja ymmärrystä, ennen kuin ne alkavat loistaa.

Suvusta ja sairauksista

Halusin Morin ensisijaisesti sen emon suvun vuoksi. Sitä ei ole Suomessa ollenkaan, eikä sen isän puolen sukukaan ole mitenkään yleinen. Morin isää Samia, ja Samin isää Gentle Ladia on kyllä käytetty Euroopassa, muttei valtavissa määrin. Samin pennut ovat varsin pidettyjä, ja ne ovat pääosin menneet paimen- ja agilitykoiriksi.

Morin kummatkin vanhemmat ovat paimenkoiria, ja kisaavat paimennuksessa; isä kakkosluokassa, emo ykkösluokassa. Kaikki isovanhemmat ovat joko tilakoiria, tai kisapaimenkoiria. Sukua on lonkkakuvattu varsin niukasti, ja tulokset ovat olleet A:ta ja B:tä. Olkapäistä, kyynärpäistä ja selistä ei ole mitään tietoa, paitsi isän osalta (kuvattu, terve).

Epilepsiaa Morin suvussa on tiedossa jonkin verran.

Sen emon Irin täysveli BJB Zigzag ABC 388542 on jättänyt yhden epileptisen pennun Pepper Pot ABC 270056 kanssa (lähde ). Toisella emon täysveljellä Conway ABC 403620 on puolestaan epileptinen pennunpentu RLR Salutations ABC 450772 (lähde )

Näiden kahden lisäksi mainittakoon koira Lock-Eye It’s A Cinch, jolla on viisi epileptistä pentua. Tämän koiran isä on B24 Sage ABC 204175, joka on Morin iso-iso-isoisä. Näistä tapauksista en tosin ole ollenkaan huolissani, koska kyseisen uroksen kaikki pennut ovat narttujen kanssa, jotka ovat epilepsian suhteen surullisen kuuluisasta Lock-Eyen linjasta, It’s a Cinchin emon puoli samaa linjaa.

Sage on myös yhden epileptisen koiran neljännessä polvessa – jälleen samat Lock-Eyen koirat mukana sopassa.

Morin iso-isoäiti L & M Splash on jättänyt yhden OCD-sairaan pennun.

Morin isän velipuoli Gentle Ladin kautta on jättänyt yhteen pentueeseen kaksi sairauskohtauksia saanutta pentua. Pentujen emon puolelta tulee klassista epilepsiaa paljon jättänyttä linjaa, sekä täysin tuntematonta työlinjaa.

Suvun muista sairauksista ei ole tietoa, ja haluan myös huomauttaa, että nämä sairastapaukset ovat julkista tietoa ja kyselyillä kerättyjä, joten piilotettuja tapauksia on aivan varmasti.

Sisaruksista

Morin sisaruksista on valitettavan vähän tietoa. Olen yrittänyt kysellä, mutta en ole saanut ihmisiä kiinni.

Yksi täysveli asuu Turkissa ja kisaa frisbeessä kansainvälisellä tasolla. Omistajan kertoman mukaan koira on ollut saman tyyppinen kuin Mor nuorempana, ja kasvanut samanlaiseksi kuin Mor aikuisena. Kyseinen uros on iso, 23 kg ja lähes 60cm.

Toinen täysveli asuu Unkarissa lähellä kasvattajaa, ja käy tämän luona paimentamassa. Koira myös treenaa suojelua ja bikejoringia.

Yhtään täyssisarusta ei ole luustokuvattu tai muutenkaan tutkittu.

Puolisisaruksista olen saanut hieman paremmin tietoa; emon puolen sisarpuolista yksi asuu Venäjällä, ja on luustokuvattu epävirallisesti lonkiltaan terveeksi. Koira on suorittanut NHAT:in ja treenaa agilitya. Myös Diesel on omistajan kertoman mukaan kuten Mor – nuoruus oli hankalaa, nyt aikuisena koira on todella kiva ja täyspäinen harrastuskoira.

Toinen puolisisarus Loki on voimakkaampi luonteltaan, ja se työskentelee paimennuksessa. Omistaja miettii mahdollista pelastusuraa.

Kolmas koira on aktiivisena kotikoirana. Tämä puolisisarus muutti omaan kotiinsa melkein vuotiaana, ja omistaja kertoo sen olleen helpoin ja kiltein koira koskaan.

Kaikin puolin ymmärrykseni Morin emon puolen sisaruksista on, että teiniys on vaikeaa, mutta koirista on kasvanut järkeviä, varmoja suorittajia ajan kanssa.Isän puolen sisaruksista en valitettavasti tiedä, kasvattajat eivät ole minulle pyynnöstä huolimatta suostuneet kertomaan sisarusten omistajien tietoja tai koirien tekemisiä/tuloksia. About Mor

Mor was a bit of an impulse purchase. Sure, I keep my eyes open all the time for interesting combinations and males, but Mor’s litter was almost born when I found it and sent a message to the breeder.

Mor was supposed to be a foster dog. I had a competition dog who was just over a year and a half, I didn’t need another one for a long time. But since I really like my older bitch, and based on what the breeder said, I expected Mor to be similar, I wasn’t too serious about looking for a foster home for her. So, she kind of, stayed. Oops.

As a puppy Mor was a fiery, unwavering, cooperative and will-to-please, smart and brisk puppy. She was insanely nice, and I was so happy to have a dog for a long time that knew how to use her brain (the previous two have been quite idiots as juniors). A lot of obedience and tracking foundations were made with her, she was meant to follow in the footsteps of the older bitch for these two sports.

Then she became a teenager. And she became awful.

My brisk, happy, and confident puppy turned into an anxious, soft, and uncooperative teenager. She immediately got under pressure, if even almost sensing that I was not in the best possible state of mind, and refused to work. In tracking, she completely hit the gloves on the counter, and in obedience she was anxious about just everything.

I raised my hands and stated that she is a horrible dog, ruined, only good as a companion. I was even seriously thinking about giving her away, maybe for agility, maybe as a companion. She didn’t work in real sports, her head wasn’t able to stay put, and she didn’t enjoy working together.

But because, after all, Mor was an extremely nice, easy, happy, friendly, and really great dog in every way, I wasn’t looking for a new home for her too seriously. She was my demo dog when I was working at a dog school. She helped with problematic dogs, for example, she didn’t give zero s*it even though a couple of meters away another dog was yelling at her saliva splashing. She just kept her attention on me, she totally trusted me to keep her safe.

When Mor was a little over two and half years, we moved to Seinäjoki and started active training after a break of more than a year. In Kouvola we had done SAR, and I noticed Mor liked SAR area searching enormously, so it was naturally in our repertoire in the future. I also took her with Nuuka to obedience training to see if I could get her trained for Ob0 level.

Now, more than a year and half after moving (spring 2022), Mor is AMAZING! She has grown insanely over the year. Gone is the anxious, uncooperative teenager, and instead I have in my hands again a fiery rowdy who yells at me if I try to fix her, when she thinks she is doing right enough. She still gets under pressure when learning something new or she’s not sure what I want from her, but no longer she refuses to try and do, and recovers from the pressure really quickly after getting her reward.

She thinks obedience is nice again, tracks she drives with four-wheel drive, splattering mud everywhere. Area-searching is still her favorite thing to do; she is an independent worker who keeps pushing and doesn’t ask for instructions in vain. She has done searching in the woods as well as in buildings, in the dark and in the light. No platform cause doubts, no sound bothers her, and she is an extremely confident and agile mover. At home, she mostly sleeps or plays on her own. She is super greedy and prefers food rather than a toy, but still enjoys tremendously tug-a-war, and pulls the toy using her whole body.

She is not, however, a Ferrari, but does everything at a calmer pace. Sometimes she also has bad days, and then her attitude in obedience can be a bit bad. And at the same time she roars in the cage if I work with my other dog and she doesn’t get to work.

Mor travels very well in the car and does not stress in new places. She’s always curious and interested in everything, but she never overheats. She can be taken anywhere and she doesn’t cause a scene or show. She loves people, but is far more polite than my other dogs. She also gets along with just about all the dogs that have been thrown in front of her so far.

Mor is an extremely effortless, independent, and easy dog, but she may not quite fit everyone’s hand. She requires a certain amount of authority, but not to a large extent. She is also a so-called one-man dog. Where I can put my older dogs in care and they will be like ”yolo, we don’t care if you ever come back”, Mor will potter around and whines behind the doors and windows waiting for me to pick her up. The more often she is staying in care, the easier it is also to be there without me.

So, after a difficult youth, she has grown into a great performance dog, whose stability and certainty I would like to see more in the breed. The only downside is the still existing softness, but for this reason I selected a male who is clearly harder than herself. I don’t assume puppies are child stars, but I would think they mature slowly and need time and understanding before they start to shine.

Her pedigree and family illnesses

I wanted Mor primarily because of her mother’s pedigree. It does not exist in Finland at all, and the father’s pedigree is by no means common. Mor’s sire, Sam, and Sam’s sire, Gentle Lad have been used in Europe, but not to a huge extent. Sam’s puppies are quite liked and have mostly gone as herding and agility dogs.

Mor’s both parents are herding dogs, and compete in it; Sam in class 2, Iri in class 1. All grandparents are either farm dogs, or competition herding dogs. There aren’t too many dogs x-rayed by their hips, but those who are the results have been A and B. There is no information on the shoulders, elbows, and back except for the sire (x-rayed, healthy).

There is some known epilepsy in Mor’s pedigree.

Her mother Iri’s full brother BJB Zigzag ABC 388542 has left one epileptic puppy with Pepper Pot ABC 270056 (source ). Another Iri’s full brother Conway ABC 403620 has an epileptic puppy RLR Salutations ABC 450772 (source )

In addition to these two, mention should be made of the dog Lock-Eye It’s A Cinch, who has five epileptic puppies. The father of this dog is B24 Sage ABC 204175, who is Mor’s great-great-grandfather. Admittedly, I am not at all worried about these cases, because all the puppies of that male are with the bitches from the Lock-Eye line, infamous for epilepsy, and It’s a Cinch’s dam is also a Lock-Eye dog.

Sage is also in the fourth generation of one epileptic dog – again the same Lock-Eye dogs involved in the soup.

Mor’s great-grandmother L & M Splash has left one puppy with OCD.

There is no information on other diseases in the family, and I would also like to point out that these cases are public information and collected through surveys, so there are certainly hidden cases.

Sisaruksista

Unfortunately, there is little information about Mor’s siblings. I’ve tried to ask, but I haven’t got answers.

One full brother lives in Turkey and competes at international level in frisbee. According to the owner, the male has been the same type as Mor when younger, and has grown similar to Mor as an adult. That male is big, 23 kg and almost 60cm.

Another full brother lives in Hungary near the breeder, and visits her to herd. The dog also trains protection and bikejoring.

No full siblings have been x-rayed or otherwise examined.

I have received a little better information about the half-siblings; one of the half-siblings on the dam’s side lives in Russia, and has been unofficially x-rayed with healthy hips. The dog has completed NHAT and is training for agility. According to the owner, Diesel is also like Mor – youth was difficult, now as an adult the dog is a really nice and clear-minded performance dog.

The other half-sibling Loki is more powerful in character and works in herding. The owner is considering a possible rescue career.

The third dog is an active house pet. This half-sister moved into her own home at almost a year of age, and the owner says she is the easiest and kindest dog ever.

My understanding of Mor’s siblings on her dam side is that teenage is difficult, but the dogs have grown into rational, confident performers over time. From the Sonic Workaholic website, I have listed the information I found.

Dracosta

Morin uroksen etsintä on ollut kyllä sellaista koirasta toiseen poukkoilua, ettei tosikaan. Suomesta on jotenkin niin hirveän vaikea löytää miellyttäviä uroksia. Tällä kertaa joustin harrastustuloksista, ja aloin viimein katsella agilitya tekeviä koiria. Morin kanssa kuitenkin tärkeintä oli löytää uros, joka kestää kolhut ja jonka sukua tiedetään jo jonkin verran.

Lopulta monen mutkan kautta päädyin nuoreen eteläisessä Suomessa asuvaan Dracoon, Dreadful Vixens Draco Malfoyyn.

Dracon emon ensimmäinen pentue kiinnosti minua kovasti, ja olisin varmaan siitä kysynyt pentua, ellei minulle olisi ollut tulossa oma pentue samaan aikaan (Tiger x Possu). Dracoon kuitenkin törmäsin vähän sattumien kautta, kun Morin edellisen urosvalinnan omistaja lakkasi vastaamasta, ja Dracon kasvattaja Anni sattumoisin pisti minulle viestiä muihin asioihin liittyen. Kysyin josko hänen kasvateissaan on urosta joka sopisi minun spekseihin, ja hän osoitti minulle Dracoa.

Draco on noin kaksi ja puoli vuotias nuorukainen, joka kisaa vain agilityssa. Omistajansa Petri on tehnyt myös paimennusta aiemmilla koirillaan, ja on käyttänyt Dracoakin lampailla, mutta tällä hetkellä aika tai kiinnostus ei riitä kyseiseen lajiin. Palikat koiralla löytyy, mutta mikään paimentykki siitä ei luultavasti tulisi. Kelpo työtilankoira kuitenkin.

Draco on erittäin hyvähermoinen, vilkas, aktiivinen ja yhteistyökykyinen koira, jolla ei ole alusta- eikä ääniarkuuksia, ja joka kestää painetta niin ympäristöltä kuin ohjaajalta. Töitä se tekee aina keskittyneesti, eikä ota häiriötä ulkopuolelta. Agilitya se tekee myös isolta osin ilman palkkaa ja hyvin estehakuisesti, mutta on kuitenkin todella hyvin kuulolla, ja tottelee mielellään ohjausta.

Kotona ja odotellessa se on rauhassa. Sillä on luontainen kyky rauhoittua, eikä sitä ole tarvinut sille erikseen opettaa. Jos mitään ei tapahdu, se pääosin nukkuu kotona itsekseen. Toisinaan se leikiskelee perheen muiden koirien kanssa, tai ihan vain itsekseen. Leluja se ei tyrkytä, eikä vaadi tekemistä. Automatkoilla se nukkuu, eikä vieraat, uudet paikat hätkähdytä sitä mitenkään. Jopa treeneissä se odottaa rauhassa kentän reunalla ilman, että on sinkoilemassa radalle. Yleisesti ottaen muutenkin todella hyvä matkustaja.

Silmää sillä ei ole ollenkaan leluille, eikä se täten jumitu niihin kiinni. Sillä ei itse asiassa ole ollenkaan silmää arjessa, eikä se täten myöskään kyttää muita koiria. Sillä ei ole muitakaan bordercollieviirauksia ilmeentynyt.

Palkkauksessa Draco suosii lelua, puree koko suullaan ja leikkii koko kropallaan. Nuorempana lelut nosti virettä vähän liikaakin, nyttemmin ei enää niin paljoa. On kuitenkin ahne, ja syö hyvin myös palkan. Taistelutahto ja saalisvietti on suuria, lähtee lelun perään ja palauttaa sen, vaikka leikkiikin sillä mielellään myös itsekseen. Lähtee myös kuolleelle lelulle.

Kotona se on helppo hallittava, koska se haluaa tehdä aina oikein. Sillä ei ole aggressioita minkään suhteen, eikä myöskään dominanssia, joka vaatisi auktoriteettia. Se ei haastele riitaa tai vahdi mitään muilta koirilta. Se ei kyllä varsinaisesti väistä, jos joku haastaa sen, mutta se on vähän sellainen ”hö, älä ny viitti”, ja kohauttaa olkiaan. Terävyyttäkään siinä ei ole, mitä nyt junnuna pimeällä on huomannut joitain asioita (esim, epäilyttävä postilaatikko) ja huutanut sitä.

Draco on urokseksi hyvin keskikokoinen, elastinen ja notkea. Se ei mene jumiin herkästi. Esteillä kääntyy hyvin.

Kotona se piipittelee ja muutenkin mölisee paljon, muttei koskaan töissä. Ja sillä on riistaviettiä siinä määrin, että lähtee liikkuvien eläinten perään.

Suvusta ja sairauksista

Dracon suku on mielenkiintoinen sekoitus hieman vanhempia suomalaisia, vanhoja ruotsalaisia, sekä hyvin eri tyyppisiä brittiläisiä linjoja. Dracon isän puolen suvusta on tullut paljon agilityssa kisaavia, hyvin pidettyjä koiria, joita löytyy useimpien suomalaisten agilitykoirien takaa. Tämä puoli sukua on siis varsin ”perussuomisukua”, tunnettua ja paljon kuvattua. Sen emolinja muun muassa jatkuu viisi polvea A-lonkkaisena, ja vasta Dracon neljännessä polvessa alkaa tulla luustokuvaamattomia koiria.

Dracon isä Easypower’s Asterix ”Einstein” (blogi) on yhä näin kesällä 2022 agilityssa kisaava nopea uros, jolla on suuri moottori ja paljon miellyttämishalua. Kotona se on miellyttävä, helppo koira, joka on sosiaalinen ja avoin niin ihmisille kuin muille koirille. Se on luustokuvattu puhtaaksi, ja se on ollut myös ikänsä perusterve. Se valmistui näyttelykäynnin myötä kesäkuussa 2022 FI AVA ja FI AVA-H:ksi.

Einsteinin isä Rajahiilen Sydänyö ”Teppo” on niin ikään agilityssa kolmosissa kisaava nopea ja ketterä uros miellyttävällä luonteella. Sillä on erinomainen on/off-nappi, eikä se vuoda, vaikka lujaa tekeekin. Tepolla on suuri saalisvietti ja taistelutahto, ja agilityn lisäksi se tekee myös pelastushakua, josta sillä on pelastuskoiraliiton haun perus HP suoritettuna.

Einsteinin emo Piggyland’s Icewein ”Iisi” on myös FI AVA & FI AVA-H, luonteeltaan hyvin samanlainen kuin poikansa. Isomoottorinen, nopea, miellyttämishaluinen narttu, jolla on hyvät hermot ja erinomainen on/off-nappi. Se on ollut agi SM-6 sekä SM joukkue-2 vuonna 2013.

Tepon isä on PAIM3 Mustan Magian Piski. Sen isä Jock ISDS 273645 kisasi paimennuksessa Ruotsissa kakkosluokassa. Emonsa Knutstas Ritalla oli PAIM2, ja sen kumpikin vanhempi kisasi Ruotsissa paimennuksessa, isä lampailla ja emo naudoilla.

Tepon emon puolelta tulee Rajahiilen Jymy, joka oli ensimmäisiä sekalinjaisia suomalaisia bordercollieita, joka menestyi maailmalla näyttelyissä. Se oli C.I.B, Viron, Tsekin ja Slovakia MVA, sekä Euroopan voittaja 2004. Agilityssa se kisasi kakkosiin asti.

Iisin isä Vallhunden Tom ”Tauno” kisasi agilityssa kolmosissa, SPKY paimennuksessa kolmosissa, sekä BCAK paimennuksessa ykkösissä. Se oli olkapäitä myöten kuvattu terveeksi. Taunon isä Rob ISDS 266603 on paimennuksen Ruotsin neljäs vuodelta 2010, ja emon Minglan V1089/2001 kumpikin vanhempi kisasi myös paimennuksessa Ruotsissa, isä Myss N347/00 kisaten niin lampailla kuin naudoilla kakkosluokassa, ja emo Erkens Lass ollen naudoilla Ruotsin mestaruuden viides vuosina 2006 ja 2007.

Iisin emo Eyewitness All Eyez on Me ”Sulka” kisasi agilityssa kolmosissa, tokossa sillä oli VOI2, ja rallyssa RTK1. Sen isällä on Tanskan tokosta LP1, ja emonsa kisasi agilityssa kolmosissa, tokossa avoimessa. Tämän nartun isä oli FI AVA, ja emo FI TVA & FI MVA, agility maksi-3.

Dracon emo Molly on jossain määrin samoista linjoista kuin ensimmäisen ja neljännen pentueen emo Possu. Nartut eivät ole lähisukulaisia keskenään, mutta samoja Canenin kantakoiria sieltä tulee. Molly itse on luonteeltaan hyvinkin saman tyyppinen kuin poikansa. Se on varsin järkähtämätön, tasainen narttu, jolla on aina järki päässä tekemisessään, mutta se tekee silti nopeasti ja aktiivisesti. Kotona se on helppo, ongelmaton koira. Agilityssa siitä on tullut FI AVA, se on tehnyt tokoa ALO1 verran, hakenut BH:n, paimentanut PAIM1 verran, sekä pelastuspuolella suorittanut pelastuskoiraliiton raunioiden soveltuvuuskoe RS:n, ja pelastushaun peruskoe PE:n.

Molly on tuotu Briteistä, ja se on puhdas ISDS-linja. Sen vanhemmista ei ole oikein mitään tietoa. Kolmannesta polvesta sillä löytyy CDex UDex Sadghyl Pip Me to Comebye, sekä Sid ISDS 244413, joka oli Int Sup kakkonen vuonn 2002, sekä Englannin joukkuejäsen 2002 sekä 2005.

Sisaruksista

Dracolla on kaksi täyssisarusta, kumpikin kuvattu luustoltaan kaikin puolin terveiksi. Toinen sisko harrastaa agilitya, toinen agilitya, tokoa, ja rallya.

Emonsa Mollyn aiemmassa pentueessa on kuusi pentua. Neljä urosta ja kaksi narttua. Yhdellä uroksella kivesvika. Lonkat 4x A, 2x B. Yhdellä LTV1, neljällä LTV0 ja VA0. Neljä kisaa agilityssa, aina ykkösestä kolmosluokkaan. Kolme on startannut tokossa, kahdella on tulos voittajasta. Yhdellä vesipelastuksen soveltuvuuskoe läpäisty, ja yhdellä HK2 RTK2. Yhdellä siskolla toispuoleinen OCD. Pentueen isänä uros, jonka suvussa isohko OCD-riski.

Pentueessa on kolme koiraa saaneet sairauskohtauksia, jotka on saatu hoitoon B12-pistoksilla. Pentueen isällä samanlaisia sairaskohtauksia ollut nuorempana, joten luultavasti erityisen herkkä IGS kantajuus tulee isän puolelta. Dracon synnyinpentueessa ei ole oireilua.

Isällään Einsteinillä on kaksi muuta pentuetta, joista toinen puolen vuoden ikäinen kirjoitushetkellä. Ensimmäisessä pentueessa kahdeksan pentua, joista yhdellä A-lonkat, kahdella B, kahdella B/C, kahdella D. Pentujen emo tulee linjasta, jossa runsaasti lonkkavikaa, ja sitä on selkeästi myös periytetty.

Seitsemällä kuvattu selät: 3x LTV0 VA0, 3x LTV1 VA0, 1x LTV0. Yhdellä polvet puhtaat. Neljä kisaa agilityssa, kolme ykkösluokassa, yksi agilityvalio. Samaisella koiralla myös kummankin olkapään OCD lausunnolla tulkinnanvarainen.

About Draco

The search for Mor’s male has been frustrating jumping from one dog to another. It is somehow so terribly difficult to find pleasant males in Finland. This time I gave up on the sport results, and I finally started looking for dogs doing agility. However, with Mor, the most important thing was to find a strong-minded male whose lineage is already somewhat known.

In the end, through many twists and turns, I ended up with a young Draco living in southern Finland, Dreadful Vixens Draco Malfoy.

I was very interested in Draco’s mother’s first litter, and I probably would have asked about the puppy if I hadn’t had my own litter coming at the same time (Tiger x Possu). However, I came across Draco a bit by chance, when the owner of Mor’s previously decided male stopped answering, and Draco’s breeder Anni messaged me about other things at the same time. I asked if there was a male in her breeding work that would fit my specs, and she pointed me to Draco.

Draco is about two and a half years old and only competes in agility. His owner Petri has also done herding with his previous dogs, and has also taken Draco to sheep, but at the moment there is not enough time or interest in that sport. The instinct is there, but he probably wouldn’t be the top sheepdog. A good working farm dog, tho.

Draco is a very good-natured, lively, active and cooperative dog, which has no platform or sound insecurities, and he can withstand pressure from both the environment and the handler. He always works with great concentration and doesn’t take any interference from the outside. He doesn’t necessarily need a reward in agility, he is very obstacle-oriented, eager to listen, and willingly obeys guidance.

At home and waiting, he is calm. He has a natural ability to calm down, and it hasn’t had to be taught to him. If nothing happens, he mostly sleeps at home by himself. Sometimes he plays with other dogs in the family, or just by himself. He doesn’t bring toys to people, nor require something to do. He sleeps on car trips, and new places don’t startle him in any way. Even during training, he waits calmly at the edge of the field without trying to run on the course. In general, he is a really easy fellow to travel with.

It doesn’t lock on toys with his eyes. In fact, he doesn’t have eyes at all in everyday life, and therefore he doesn’t stalk other dogs either. No other typical BC behavior hasn’t occurred.

Draco prefers the toy, bites with his whole mouth and plays with his whole body. When he was younger, toys raised his drive a little too much, but now not so much. However, he is greedy, and also eats treats. The will to fight and prey drive are great, he goes after the toy and returns it, although he also likes to play with it by himself. Also goes on a dead toy.

At home, he is easy to handle as he always wants to do the right thing. He has no aggression towards anything, and no dominance that demands authority. He does not provoke a fight or guard anything against other dogs. He doesn’t really dodge if someone challenges him, but he’s a bit like ”Bruh, calm your tits”, and shrugs it off. There is no sharpness in him either. As a youngster he has got a typical teenage phrase and has yelled in the darkness at suspicious things like mailboxes.

For a male, Draco is very medium-sized, elastic and flexible. He doesn’t have stuck/sore muscles easily. Turns well on obstacles.

At home he whines and yodls a lot, but never at work. And he has game drive to the extent he goes after moving animals.

His pedigree and family illnesses

Draco’s pedigree is an interesting mix of slightly older Finns, old Swedes, and very different types of British lines. Draco’s father’s side of the family has produced a lot of very liked agility dogs, which can be found behind most Finnish agility dogs. This half of the family is therefore quite a ”basic Finnish pedigree”, well-known and much health tested. Among other things, Draco’s sire’s mother line continues for five generations as HD A and it is only in Draco’s fourth generation when non-health tested dogs start to appear (Jock REGV1245/2006 and Bob REGV1188/2004 parents).

Draco’s father Easypower’s Asterix ”Einstein” is a fast male competing in agility still in the summer of 2022, with a big engine and a lot of will to please. At home, he is a pleasant, easy-going dog who is social and open to both people and other dogs. He has been x-rayed healthy, and he has always been healthy. He got his Finnish Agility and Jumping Champion titles in Summer 2022 when he met a judge who appreciates working dogs.

Einstein’s father Rajahiilen Sydänyö ”Teppo” is also a fast and nimble male with a pleasant personality who competes in agility LA3. He has an excellent on/off button, and he doesn’t leak even though he runs fast. Teppo has a high toy drive and will to fight, and in addition to agility, he also works in SAR, from which he has HP, the basic day area-searching lvl-1 completed.

Einstein’s mother Piggyland’s Icewein ”Iisi” is also FI AG Ch & FI Ag-J Ch, very similar in character to her son. Big motor, fast, eager to please bitch with good nerves and an excellent on/off button. She has been agility FICH-6 and FICH team-2 in 2013.

Teppo’s father is trial-3 Mustan Magian Piski. His father Jock ISDS 273645 competed in herding in Sweden in the second class. His dam Knutstas Rita had trial-2, and both of her parents competed in Sweden in herding, the father with sheep and the mother with cattle.

From Teppo’s mother’s side comes Rajahiilen’s Jymy, who was one of the first mixed-line Finnish Border Collies that was successful at world shows. He was C.I.B, Estonian, Czech and Slovakian Show Ch, as well as the European Winner in 2004. In agility he competed in the second class.

Iisi’s father Vallhunden Tom ”Tauno” (he is also a great-great-grandfather to my Ego Sum litter) competed in LA3 and trial-1. He was x-rayed healthy also from his shoulders. Tauno’s sire Rob ISDS 266603 was Swedish Herding Champion-4 in 2010, and both parents of dam Mingla REGV1089/2001 also competed in herding in Sweden, sire Myss N347/00 competing both with sheep and cattle in the second class, and dam Erkens Lass, being fifth in the Swedish Championship with cattle in 2006 and 2007.

Iisi’s mother Eyewitness All Eyez on Me ”Sulka” competed in LA3, in obedience she had Ob2 and in rally RTK1 (novice). Her father had an LP1 from obedience from Denmark, and her mother competed in LA3, and Ob1. The sire of this bitch was FI Ag Ch, and dam FI Ob Ch & FI Ch, LA3.

Siblings

Draco has two full siblings, both x-rayed free from HD, ED, OCD, and spine. One sister does agility, the other does agility, obedience, and rally.

There are six puppies in her mother Molly’s previous litter. Four males and two females. One male is a monorchid. HD 4x A, 2x B. One LTV1, four LTV0 and VA0. Four competitions in agility, from LA-1 to LA-3. Three have started on obedience, two are in Ob2. One has passed the water rescue aptitude test, and one has area-searching lvl-2 and rally lvl-2. One sister has bilateral OCD. The father of the litter is a male with a high risk of OCD in the family.

There are three dogs in the litter who had seizures and were treated with B12 injections. The father of the litter had similar episodes of illness when he was younger, so the especially sensitive IGS carrier probably comes from the father’s side. Draco’s born-litter has no symptoms.

His father Einstein has two other litters, one of which is six months old at the time of writing. Eight puppies in the first litter, one with A hips, two with B, two with B/C, two with D. The mother of the puppies comes from a line with a lot of hip dysplasia, and it has clearly been inherited as well.

Spine has been x-rayed from seven: 3x LTV0 VA0, 3x LTV1 VA0, 1x LTV0. One has PL 0. Four competitions in agility, three in first class, one agility champion. The same dog also has OCD of both shoulders with the statement ”open to interpretation”. (we have grades ”clear”, ”open to interpretation”, and ”affected”).
